Changes to Projects

Requests for modifications to a grant or contract must be processed through the Office of Research Services. The grant/contract is a legal document and any request submitted to an agency to change or modify it must have the Director, Office of Research Services, signature - Dr. John Baumann. Your first point of contact should be to your division/department fiscal officer to be certain that such changes are acceptable to your school. Some changes can be accomplished at the campus level. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) "expanded authorities" allow for numerous decisions to be made at the campus level. Please see PHS Grants Policy Statement on Expanded Authorities for more information. Your award notice from NIH will indicate if the expanded authorities apply. The National Science Foundation and many other federal granting agencies have implemented similar regulations. Grants/contracts have a wide variety of rebudgeting requirements and other rules.

Please review the agreement for your particular grant/contract. Your fiscal officer and ORS staff are available to help in this matter. The following items include possible project changes:
