Swinney Recreation Center Membership
Swinney Recreation Center exists for its members – UMKC students, faculty, staff and selected University affiliates. In order to continue offering members the environment and privileges expected from a members-only facility, each member will be required to display student, faculty and staff or member identification upon check in at the Control Center.
No one shall have access to activity areas without demonstrating valid membership to SRC (including, but not limited to, a UMKC photo ID). If there is question about the validity of an ID, members may be requested to present a second piece of identification. Full- and part-time UMKC students who have been assessed and have paid the multipurpose fee (along with other student fees) are automatically SRC members. Others eligible to purchase memberships, include:
- Spouses of currently enrolled full- or part-time UMKC students
- Full- or part-time university compensated employees of UMKC
- Retired UMKC faculty and staff
- Graduates of the University of Missouri system (University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri University of Science and Technology)
- Current members of approved UMKC affiliated organizations
- Additional household person of affiliated members (this would include one additional household member per membership)
- To obtain an SRC ID card (additional fee required), visit the campus information center, located in the University Center. Contact the SRC Membership Office at 816-235-1556 for availability.
Affiliate memberships are purchased in three-, six- or 12-month periods. Student and student spouse memberships are for one semester, which begin on the first day of class of the current semester and last until the first day of class for the following semester. Members must be 18 years of age, unless currently enrolled as a UMKC student. Memberships are not transferable. Membership status cannot change from an individual/spouse to an individual during the membership period.

Full-time and part-time UMKC students are automatically members of SRC, and membership charges are assessed with other student fees.

In most cases, full- and part-time UMKC students are automatically members of Swinney Recreation Center and membership charges are assessed along with other student fees. Students may verify payment of SRC fees through their Pathway account.

Faculty and Staff
UMKC payroll compensated faculty/staff, University Extension personnel, and faculty/staff (employed a minimum of 75 percent time) and located in Kansas City.
To be eligible for the faculty/staff rate, you must meet the following criteria:
- Full-time university-compensated employee of UMKC
- Part-time (minimum 75% FTE) university-compensated employee of UMKC
- Retired UMKC faculty/staff (must pay 1 year in advance)
- University extension personnel
- Live in the Kansas City metro area

All alumni, constituents, lecturers and continuing education faculty not qualified for faculty/staff rate, any students not charged the SRC fee through student fees, any other individual or organization related to UMKC.

Affiliate memberships are purchased for three, six, or 12 months. You must be at least 18 years old to be a member of the SRC unless you are a UMKC student. Your membership is non-transferable. Your membership status cannot change from an individual/spouse to individual during the membership period.*

Cancellations
Cancellation of an individual or spouse membership will be allowed only under special circumstances. There will be no cancellation privileges with student memberships. Refunds for memberships will only be granted for one of the following reasons:
- Employment from UMKC is terminated. Verification will be made with Human Resources.
- Medical emergencies that inhibit members from utilizing SRC. Written documentation is required from a physician.
It is the responsibility of members to ensure that he/she is getting the best membership option. SRC administrative staff may make suggestions but is not responsible for overpayment. Contact the membership office at 816-235-1556 for specific information.
