UMKC's Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management has a variety of opportunities for graduate students who want to gain practical experience in an urban campus environment.   The Division seeks to enhance students' experiences at UMKC by providing a vital co-curricular program and support services that help students reach their academic goals.

Qualifications
Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in a minimum of nine hours of graduate study at UMKC and admitted to a degree-seeking program.  All interns must remain in good academic standing throughout the assistantship. Each department may require specific skills and further qualifications.  Priority will be given to students in the Masters of Higher Education program.

Graduate Assistants are hired for 9 or 12 months of employment at 20 hours per week and are considered professional Student Affairs staff members.  Graduate Assistants are paid during student vacation periods and are expected to be available for work.  Their academic careers are a priority and work schedules are set accordingly.

Benefits
Graduate Assistants receive an education fee remission for up to six credit hours for the fall and spring semesters, as well as a monthly stipend.  There is no fee remission offered in the summer semesters.  In addition, assistants who are non-residents qualify for fee remission covering up to nine hours of non-resident fees (please note that students may not receive more than one non-resident fee remission).  The stipend and fee remission are also subject to change.
