  Strategic Plan

The staff of the Division of Student Affairs has identified the following six strategic issues and accompanying goals, which comprise the foundation of our strategic plan:

1.  REBUILDING AND STABILIZING THE ENROLLMENT.
In order to provide a stable funding baseline for the University, as well as to allow us to best utilize our staff and fiscal resources, it is imperative that UMKC increase its enrollment and eventually stabilize its future growth. This is an effort which is being actualized through the campus Enrollment Management Plan. Divisional offices play critical roles in the implementation of both the recruitment and retention components of the plan.

GOAL: Increase student enrollment while maintaining quality and diversity

2. PROVIDING SERVICES THAT ENHANCE THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND MEET THE NEEDS OF THE CHANGING STUDENT BODY.
As our student body changes to reflect demographic and social conditions, our division must be capable of anticipating and responding to changing student needs.

GOAL: Provide support services that enhance the learning environment and meet student needs

3. REJUVENATING THE CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT.
Maintaining a vibrant, supportive and responsive campus environment, to include both physical and programming components, is critical in our ability to recruit and retain students and meet their cocurricular needs.

GOAL: Improve the campus environment to better meet students' cocurricular needs and increase student satisfaction.

4. SHARING INSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR FOSTERING COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS AND SATISFYING OUR LAND-GRANT MISSION.
As part of the institution's responsibility to its service component and faithfulness to its land-grant heritage, the division must continue to find ways in which to use its expertise, share its resources, and positively impact special populations in the community.

GOAL: Foster community relationships in an effort to assist the University in meeting its urban land-grant mission.

5. UTILIZATION OF TECHNOLOGY.
In order to efficiently and effectively deliver services to students, we must be able to incorporate new technologies. This will involve not only new hardware and software, but also new approaches to delivering services and information to the campus community and students.

GOAL: Improve Divisional operations through the use of technology.

6. OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY.
To ensure that institutional resources are being used effectively and efficiently, it is critical that evaluative systems be designed and implemented to measure performance.

GOAL: Improve evaluation of divisional services and programs.

GOAL: Expand funding sources for the Division of Student Affairs.
