Admissions, Licensure and Certification Exams

In addition to the wide range of tests offered through the Prometric Test Site (MCAT, DAT, NCARB, CPA, USMLE, etc.), Testing Services offers other exams for academic and professional needs.


Registration for the following exams are made through Testing Services:


CLEP – College Level Exam Program

  • The CLEP is used for college equivalency credits and is administered on an appointment bases at the Testing Center. Appointment times are available several times each week. Candidates must register in-person at the Testing Services Office, completing a brief application and submitting a $15 nontransferable and nonrefundable appointment fee payable to UMKC via cash, check or money order. On the day of testing, candidates pay the CLEP organization an additional $77 for each exam via credit card or check.
  • All CLEP exams are offered, but candidates should check with their advisor or the institution granting credit to determine their specific CLEP policy, as each institution determines which exams they accept and what constitutes a passing score.
  • Government issued I.D. is necessary on test day.
  • Scores are available to candidates upon the completion of the exam.

C-BASE – College Base Academic Subjects Exam

  • The C-Base is used for entrance into the teacher education program at UMKC and is offered on five testing dates throughout the year. Pre-registration is required and registration closes at 5 p.m. on the Friday two weeks prior to the Saturday test date.
  • The nontransferable and nonrefundable $60 fee is payable to UMKC via check, cash or money order. Patrons must pay in-person at our office if they do not submit the application via U.S. Postal Service.
  • The application is available online.
  • Admission tickets are sent to registered candidates one week before the exam.
  • Stand-by registration is available on test day if space and materials permit. An additional $20 stand-by fee is collected on the day of testing for a total of $80.

MAT – Miller Analogies Test

  • The MAT is used for graduate school admission and is administered on an appointment bases through Testing Services. Appointment times are available weekly. Pre-registration is required through the Testing Services Office. An appointment time is secured with a nonrefundable and nontransferable fee of $15 via cash, check or money order. On the day of testing candidates pay UMKC an additional $55 via check, cash or money order.
  • Scores are available at the conclusion of the exam.
  • Government issued I.D. is necessary on test day.
