Reservation/Room Usage Policies
This is a general
statement of policy concerning use of the University Center facility. It
addresses the most often asked questions. More specific information or
clarification of information listed here can be obtained by calling the
University Center Administrative Office, 235-1411.
1) Use
of the University Center is limited to recognized student groups, Campus
departments, Campus affiliates and Campus sponsored groups. Any other non-University group must order significant catering
from Food Service, 235-1076, in order to use the facility.

Reservations
for rooms should be made with the Conference Assistant at (816) 235-1416. Food Service must be
arranged separately with the UMKC dining service at(816) 235-1076. It is the responsibility of
the user to make these arrangements. A room reservation must be made before any
food arrangements can be made.

Any food or drink consumed in the University Center meeting rooms
must be ordered through the University Center’s food service, 235-1076. No food
may be brought into the meeting rooms from another source.
4) Reservations
for events should be made a minimum of three working days in advance of
the reservation date.
5) University
Center lounge areas are for public use as lounges and may only be used for
special events and purposes with prior approval from the University Center
Administrative Office.
6)
Classes, lectures, labs, or any other type of credit or non-credit class meeting
longer than one day may not normally be scheduled in the University Center.
7) All
posters and notices in the University Center must be approved and stamped by the
Student Life Office or the University Center Administrative Office.
8)
Election campaign materials must be posted in accordance with campaign and
University Center regulations. Check with the Student Life Office for
information.
9) The
University Center does not sell alcoholic beverages. Any use of alcoholic
beverages at a function in the University Center or on the University campus
must be done with the permission of the University Center Administrative Office
a minimum of two weeks prior to the event. The alcohol
must be served by Food Service staff. Alcohol permits are available in the
University Center Administrative Office, 235-1411 or may be downloaded from the
link below.

The
University Center has a limited amount of audio-visual and media equipment
available for its users. Procurement and cost of any equipment not available
from the University Center is the responsibility of the user. The University
Center’s equipment is for use only for functions scheduled through the
University Center’s Reservations Office. It may not be used for non-reserved
events. Any exceptions to this must be approved by the University Center
Administrative Office.
11) Sale
of any items in the University Center by groups must be approved by the
University Center Administrative Office two weeks prior to the event. Student
groups must also have the approval of the Student Life Office.
Permit to sell forms are available in the Reservations Office.
12) Cancellations
of any event should be made as far in advance as possible to ensure that the
facility can be rescheduled by other groups.
13)
Because of fire-safety standards, use of candles or items
with open flames are prohibited in the University Center.
14)
Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the University Center.
15)
Because of damage caused to surfaces, no posters or signs,
may be put on painted or fabric walls. Please ask the Conference Assistant
(235-1416) for easels or standards on which to display your signs when you have
an event or display table. Exceptions to this must be approved by the
University Center Administration.
16)
No
films or videotapes may be shown in the University Center unless they have a
public performance license. You may obtain information on copyright
infringement from the Reservations Office, 235-1416.
