How to Begin a Project
Contact
your editor or designer directly to set up new projects. If you do not know
which editorial/design team is assigned to your unit, please call 816-235-1594 and we will most likely schedule a meeting with you and with your
Creative Services team.
At this meeting we will need the following:
A clear
idea of what you want out of your project
What are you trying to accomplish with this project?
Who is your audience?
What behavior are you trying to elicit from them?
What single message should
the prospect remember?
Adequate
content
If your project involves
copy, providing accurate copy that includes all the information you want to
convey will save time and money. It’s best to wait until all of your content is
ready before providing it to your Creative Services team. Providing partial or
incomplete copy can lead to more preparation time on our end.
Knowledge
of who is ultimately approving the project
Be sure that whoever must
ultimately approve the project (if it’s not you) will be available to be
involved in the process as it moves along. There’s nothing more disappointing
(or expensive) than completing a project only to find out it doesn’t meet the
“boss’s” vision of what the project should be, and having to start all over. A ballpark
budget
We can work up options for
different budgets, but it is much easier to do so if we have an idea of what you
want to spend.Your MoCode
The MoCode is for accounting
purposes – jobs can’t be opened without one.
After the initial concept
meeting, your CS team will develop a concept (or possibly several) for your
project.
These are presented to you and if you approve, the production work
begins and the job proceeds.
