One of the services we can provide is strategic marketing.
In other words, we can help you plan ahead for a week, month or year of marketing.
We can help draw up a plan including advertising, publications, brochures, events and any other marketing-related work you might want to do so you have it at a glance and can plan and complete each project in a timely fashion.

Writing and Editing
The Pen is Mightier…
From brochures to feature stories, our editors are experienced copywriters who can come up with fresh new copy, or work with existing copy to make it pop.
Editing, not to be confused with proofreading, is the process by which we take existing copy and review it for ways to make it clearer, accurate and more organized, and, where needed, infuse it with new life.

Design and Production
Looking Good
Graphic designers strive to create a design that will appeal to the audience you’re trying to reach for each project.
We do this by conducting visual research, keeping up with trends in higher education and a variety of media types, and asking you questions about how you will use this project and what response you want from your audience.
After making initial sketches either with software or good old-fashioned paper and pencil, we take our ideas and put them into a layout that includes copy, photos/illustrations and any other elements you might want in your project.

Ownership
Creative Services will retain ownership of any files or materials created in the production process. All projects will be archived for a period of 10 years. Archived scanned photos and illustrations may be purchased. See our rate sheet for fees.

Photography
Ready for Your Close-up?
Creative Services can photograph your event or stage a photoshoot to get just the right photo for your needs.
All photography can be coordinated through the designer working on your project, or for separate requests, contact Anastasia Spartan at 235-1594 or e-mail spartana@umkc.edu.
Stock photos can also be requested. Retrieving photos from archives is a billable service – see Photography under “What We Charge” for more information.

Multi-media
Beyond Paper
More and more people are choosing to create electronic communication, from Web sites to mass-marketing e-mails, to reach their target audience. Web site content and graphics, HTML e-mails, video and power point graphics are all part of the multi-media services that Creative Services provides.

If you have an event or announcement coming up that affects students, staff, faculty or the community at large, send it to announcements@umkc.edu and we’ll post it in the e-mail announcements which reach all UMKC employees, faculty and students every week.
