5508 Controversial Issues In Recent Economic Literature (3)
This course will focus on theoretical and policy-oriented controversies that
have occured in economic in the 20th century. The type of controversies covered
include, but are not restricted to, money, unemployment, business cycles and
economic growth, pricing and administered prices, capital controversy, labor
theory of value controversy, and free trade vs. protectionism. While the course
concentrates on recent debates, it identifies the origins of the modern
disputes in earlier controversies. For each controversy, its real world
importance and policy implications are discussed.
