5540 Medieval Romance (3) The various movements of French medieval romance from the 12th through 15th centuries with an emphasis on the 12th and 13th centuries. Analysis of literary technique and socio-historical context will be stressed. No knowledge of Old French is assumed. Also offered as French 440. Prerequisites: Admission to M.A. in Romance Languages and Literature program or permission of instructor.
