5730 Biology Of The Periodontium (1-2) Biology of the Periodontium covers the embryology, histology, ultrastructure and biochemistry of stratified squamous epithelium, fibrous connective tissue, bone and cementum. These four tissues are studied in health and during inflammatory disease and healing of surgical wounds. Major emphasis is placed on immune system interactions with bone and fibrous connective tissue components during inflammatory periodontal disease.
