5530C The Experience Of Health In Aging: Community (1)
This one-credit hour course is designed for students interested in
understanding the role of health, community, systems and service delivery in
the aging population. The N530C course will focus primarily on community,
health systems and service delivery as these relate to the older adult.
Theoretical, empirical and applied knowledge of aging and the health system and
delivery process is presented. This knowledge is utilized in assessing and
interpreting the influence of the community and health care delivery systems on
the health of older adults. This knowledge may also be used in developing
strategies for the promotion, restoration, and maintenance of health in the
aging population. This course meets for five weeks. Additionally, a field
experience encompasses assessment and written documentation of in-person
interviews conducted with an older adult. Instructional class activities
include lecture, group discussion, written reactions, dialogue with visiting
speakers, and health assessment papers presented by students. Offered: Every
