Advising and Registration

The mechanical engineering program assigns a faculty member to be the student’s academic adviser throughout the duration of their study. Students may request a change of adviser assignment. Students are required to meet with their faculty adviser every semester prior to registration for the following semester. The faculty adviser guides the student in selecting courses that are necessary for completion of degree requirements, and answers questions regarding elective course programs and options. During the advising period, the faculty adviser determines whether the student is meeting degree requirements by reviewing the program advisement form. Any exceptions to the normal procedure must be approved by written petition. Specific information regarding registration is found in the UMKC Class Schedule and on the UMKC Web site.
