350 The 18Th Century Novel (3) A detailed examination of the development of the novel in the 18th-century. The course emphasizes the evolution of the novel from such predecessors as rogue literature, the picaresque story and the romance, due to changing social realities. The novelists studies may include Austen, Behn, Fielding, Godwin, Haywood, Richardson, Smollett, and Sterne. Prerequisite: None Restricitions: None
