452 Early English Drama (3) English religious and secular drama prior to Shakespeare. Mystery and morality plays are studied, with emphasis on their literary and social backgrounds. Close reading of such works as "Everyman", "The Wakefield Second Shepherd's Play" and "The Spanish Tragedy." Prerequisites; English 317 and 323 or permission of the instructor.
