408P Images Of Aging In Literature (1)
This one credit hour course will give students an opportunity to examine human
attitudes towards the changes that occur in later life viewing them through
fictional characters and events. It is one thing to learn the facts of the
aging process and aging in society, but quite another to examine attitudes and
feelings about such issues subjectively, through the eyes of one facing them.
Through reading literature about older people and their concerns, discussing it
and writing papers about it, students should develop a truer perspective about
that portion of their own lives and alter their attitudes towards older people
in their present culture. Though this is a one-credit-hour course, discussions
and papers may also draw from readings done in the Independent Study portion of
the block.
