121 Music Theory I (3) A course presenting the elementary melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic elements of music through part-writing and analysis. The vocabulary for the first semester includes traditional usage and analysis of triads and their inversions, nonharmonic tones, introduction to chords of the seventh, and elementary modulation.
