353A History And Development Of Jazz I (3) History of Jazz from its beginning through the present, using recordings, films and musical examples. Emphasis on the major historical trends in Jazz, including Early Jazz, Ragtime, Dixieland, Swing, Bebob, Cool Jazz, Hard Bop, Free Jazz, Jazz-Rock Fusion and modern developments. This course makes use of the Marr Sound Archive, and is appropriate for all students throughout the UMKC Campus.
