4020 Local Anesthesia And Pain Control (3)
This course is designed to prepare dental hygiene students for the safe,
effective administration of local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation.
Included are content areas in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and emergency
management as they relate to the administration of local anesthetics, nitrous
oxide, and pain control. Laboratory session are structured to develop actual
experiences in administration of local anesthetics and nitrous oxide. Various
mechanism for pain control are also covered. Methods of presentation include
lecture, large group discussion, laboratory and clinical participation.
