Scofield Hall

Scofield Hall was sometimes referred to as the Dickey mansion after its owner, Walter Dickey, a newspaper publisher, politician and industrialist in the area.

In 1931, the building was purchased by another wealthy industrialist – William Volker – and donated to Kansas City University, making Scofield Hall the first building on campus. The building was renamed for Carleton Scofield, the Chancellor of Kansas City University who presided over its merger with the University of Missouri System, becoming the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1963. It is one of three former mansions on campus.

Scofield is home to the College of Arts and Sciences advising office, a foreign language lab and the Program for Adult College Education  - PACE.
