The University Center – known to students and alumni as the "U-Center" – was built in 1961, and houses the cafeteria, bookstore, student life office and campus information center. The building also houses Pierson Auditorium, which can accommodate an audience of 600 and is used for dinners, dances, graduation robing and other large events. The UMKC bookstore also is a great source for UMKC clothing and merchandise.
