Clear Boggy Oil and Gas Company Records (KC311)
In 1892, Newton Childs bought leases from the Choctaw and Chicksaw Nations in Coal County, Oklahoma, for the purpose of mining oil and coal. He mined these territories until 1916, when he leased the land to the Clear Boggy Oil and Gas Company. The company developed the lands for oil, gas, and other minerals. The company was successful until Newton Childs, who was vice president, died sometime in late 1924 or early 1925. The company was left to Mrs. Childs and very little business was done while she owned the company.
The Clear Boggy Oil and Gas Company collection contains minutes of directors and stockholders, articles of incorporation, descriptions of Coal County, Oklahoma, maps, and correspondence. 1892-1930
