Oscar H. Cogswell operated a store in Independence, Missouri. He was a judge of the County Court of Jackson County in 1862.

The collection consists of one daybook volume with entries from February 20, 1855 to January 1, 1857. In the 1950s, the Native Sons compiled an index to the daybook, listing the names of Cogswell's customers and the pages on which their purchases are recorded. 1855-1857
