Katherine Guilfoyle Edelman (1885-1968) Papers (KC281)


In 1918, the Kansas City Star published a poem by Katherine Guilfoyle Edelman for the first time. Many other publications and greeting card companies used her work, including Hall Brothers, the precursor to Hallmark, Inc. Mrs. Edelman's poetry and articles centered around such themes as her native Ireland, religious devotion, motherhood, nature, and other sentimental topics. Mrs. Edelman was involved in a variety of organizations, including the Kansas City League of American Pen Women, the Missouri Writers' Guild, Theta Sigma Phi, the Women's City Club, and the Diversifiers, a local writers' group.

The collection of scrapbooks contains newspaper and magazine clippings of poetry and articles written by Katherine Guilfoyle Edelman. They also contain correspondence with publishers and invitations and programs for various events related to Mrs. Edelman's professional activities.. 1918-1973
