Downloading instructions

Because it is often easier and faster to download a document for use off-line than to read or search files on the Internet, WHMC-KC  provides the opportunity to FTP items from its WebPages to facilitate research  and scholarship.

The documents are provided in a compresses, self-extracting file.  Once transferred they should be moved to the directory into which you want them opened.   Chick or run the file to decompress it.

All WHMC-KC documents are written in the Microsoft Word97 format therefore Word97 or Word View97 (or another word processor which can convert Word97 files) is necessary to view them.  Word View97   may be download and installed on your PC free. Or if you have an earlier or a MAC version of Word you may be able to download other converters and viewers from Microsoft's Converters and Viewers page.

Some materials in these documents may be protected by the U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C.) and/or by the copyright or neighboring-rights laws of other nations. More information is provided by the U.S. Copyright Office. Additionally, the reproduction of some materials may be restricted by terms of WHMC-KC gift agreements, donor restrictions, privacy and publicity rights, licensing and trademarks. Transmission or reproduction of items on these documents beyond that allowed by fair use requires the written permission of the WHMC-KC and the copyright owners.
