...a Thoroughfare for Business & Faith, too.

One of the things that makes Ward Parkway distinctive among the Grand American Avenues is its development by one company.

J.C. Nichols Company Sales Office When Located at 59th & Ward Parkway.
Throughout the 1920s, the main office for the J.C. Nichols Company was in the Commerce Trust building at 10th and Baltimore in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The company maintained a series of branch offices, usually in buildings which could be moved to new locations as development expanded. This structure was located at 59th and Ward Parkway. Later in the decade it was moved to Meyer Circle where it complemented the similarly styled Edward B. Delk office shown above. One of the things that makes Ward Parkway distinctive among the Grand American Avenues is its development by one company throughout the length of the section under consideration. That unity of development and control provides the key to understanding the longevity of the prominence of the boulevard as the centerpiece of the most fashionable neighborhood in the city.
