We agreed to help lead this ambitious fundraising campaign for UMKC because we believe in its ability to provide opportunity to every generation within our metropolitan region. UMKC is committed to fulfilling its responsibility as Kansas City’s University. The campaign’s success helped strengthen UMKC's ability to recruit great students and faculty, enhance and construct dynamic facilities, and achieve overall excellence.
We began counting dollars toward
the campaign on July 1, 2000. Since then,
thanks to the generosity
of alumni, friends, business partners and civic leaders, we exceeded
our $200 million goal. Nearly 50,000 donors contributed
226,343 gifts and pledges for a final total of $202,644,248.
Our success can be measured by
new campus landmarks such as the Oak Street Residence Hall, the more
than $36 million in financial support for our
students and
the establishment of key programs to meet Kansas City's pressing
needs. In addition, during 2004-05, the
University secured $29.5 million in actual gifts – the largest
actual annual dollar total in the history of
the institution.
