How Do I Apply?

How you apply to UMKC depends on the type of student you are and the degree you're pursuing. Check out the descriptors below to see which one best fits where you are on your educational path.

First-time college students

If you have not attempted coursework during a regular session at a college after receiving your high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate, you will apply as a first-time college student.

Apply as a first-time college student

Transfer students

If you have attempted at least one course during a regular session at a college after receiving your high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate, you will apply as a transfer student (no matter how many college credits you are transferring to UMKC).

Apply as a transfer student

Graduate and professional students

If you have earned at least one bachelor's degree and are pursuring an advanced degree or certificate, you will apply as a graduate or professional student.

Through Amazon Career Choice, Amazon employees receive tuition assistance, career resources and a supportive student experience.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Kansas City

Eligible graduating members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kansas City can receive a renewable UMKC scholarship of $1,000 for up to five years.

City Year

City Year AmeriCorps members and alumni who have completed at least one year of service and staff members who have been employed by City Year for at least two years who have been admitted to a degree program at UMKC will be considered for a scholarship that reduces tuition and fees by 50%.

Early College Academy

Eligible high school students from Kansas City Public Schools and the North Kansas City School District can enroll in classes at UMKC and gain college credit free of cost.

Metropolitan Community College

RooMentum Pathways is a dual-degree, 2+2 transfer program where students who complete an associate degree at an area Metropolitan Community College can transfer seamlessly to UMKC for an additional two years to complete a bachelor’s degree.
