Graduate and Professional Program Application Process

Interested in a master's, doctoral or professional degree or even a graduate certificate? Here's the information you need to apply to your program.

1. Review graduate general requirements

  • Transcript showing evidence of bachelor’s or first-level professional degree from a regionally accredited institution and satisfactory academic record
  • Proof of English proficiency for non-native English speakers
  • R.N.-to-M.S.N. option in the School of Nursing and Health Studies not included
  • You can find general information about the UMKC graduate student process in the UMKC catalog

2. Review your program admission and application requirements.

Each graduate program determines program-specific requirements. Consult your program director about these requirements and deadlines for completing your application.

If you need assistance contacting your program, please call or email the School of Graduate Studies at 816-235-1301 or umkcsgs@umkc.edu.

3. Complete the general UMKC application

Submit the application for admission and the $45.00 nonrefundable domestic application fee or the $75.00 nonrefundable international application fee.

You will not need to resubmit the general UMKC application fee if you were ever enrolled at UMKC as a degree seeking student.

Completing the application process does not serve as a statement of acceptance or admission to the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
