Types of Visits

We offer several types of visits for high school seniors and incoming freshmen, helping to address each student’s unique questions and needs.

If you’re looking for a general overview of UMKC, this is the visit for you. The day includes a presentation by Admissions staff, a walking tour of campus and an optional housing tour.

Find Senior Days

Perfect for students who already have a specific major or academic interest in mind. Due to the limited number of these major-specific visits, we recommend registering early in the semester to save your spot.

The Henry W. Bloch School of Management connects business and public administration in a holistic experience that is unusual among business schools. Entrepreneurship and innovation are cornerstones of the curriculum. Emphasis areas include finance, marketing, real estate and entrepreneurship.

The Conservatory is recognized as a center for artistic excellence. In rehearsals, in class and on stage, gifted faculty and visiting artists help students find their creative voices.

The Honors College is designed to enrich the collegiate experience of students. Traditional and nontraditional undergraduates from every school and college at the university are provided with the opportunity to develop their academic and leadership skills within the context of a broad, interdisciplinary education, which will ultimately prepare them for graduate studies and professional careers.

From conservation to medicine, a degree from the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences lays a solid foundation for success. UMKC's curriculum emphasizes critical thinking and the principles of scientific discovery to prepare students for professional careers in medicine and dentistry, or for graduate-level work.

If you like to create, design, build and problem-solve, you'll feel right at home at the School of Computing and Engineering. Kansas City is home to hundreds of engineering and computing firms of all sizes, which means lots of opportunities for internships and employment after graduation.

The School of Dentistry educates exceptionally qualified and caring oral health care providers through a curriculum that combines the best of the classroom and clinic. It is the only public dental school in Missouri and Kansas.

High school students and other first-time college students interested in dentistry should attend a Roo Visit with their intended undergraduate academic unit. The College of Arts and Sciences and School of Biological and Chemical Sciences are both great options for a student interested in medicine.

The School of Education prepares exemplary teachers to serve in schools in all settings. Working in diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic settings among nine partner school districts prepares UMKC's future teachers to meet the needs of students anywhere.

The School of Law takes pride in being an urban public law school with a small liberal arts feel. We are dedicated to educating students to become outstanding lawyers who will serve their communities and the nation in the highest traditions of the legal profession, concentrating always on the foundations of good lawyering: respect for people, respect for ideas and respect for justice.

Students interested in pre-law should attend a general Roo Visit, Senior Day or a major-specific visit with the College of Arts and Sciences.

The School of Medicine partners with six top area hospitals to provide students with early patient interaction and high-quality medical training. High school students who are highly motivated and well-qualified may be eligible for the unique B.A./M.D. Program, which allows you to earn a medical degree in just six years. Other graduate medical programs are also available.

The School of Nursing and Health Studies offers a variety of undergraduate degrees for students who want to pair academic rigor with personalized attention from instructors.

Graduates of the School of Pharmacy’s Pharm.D. program have the training needed to successfully complete national and state licensure exams and work as a pharmacist. The Pharm.D. degree requires at least six years of college — two years of prerequisite courses and four years of professional study.

University College helps undecided students explore the majors and minors offered at UMKC and then transition into an academic unit. Students who enroll in UCollege feel supported in their career inquiry; meanwhile, they progress toward a degree by completing general education classes required for all majors.

Students interested in transferring to UMKC but who have not selected an intended major should attend a general Roo Visit or Senior Day.
