WHAT DOES THE SUMMER BRIDGE SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?

Scholars are engaged in a rigorous and intensive eight-weeks of programming. During this program, scholars should expect their schedules to be full Monday-Friday. In addition to their courses, scholars will participate in programming related to professional development, career exploration, cultural enrichment, team building, campus involvement, mentorship, academic skill-building, and civic engagement.

WHAT CLASSES WILL I BE TAKING OVER THE SUMMER?

Students will enroll in a writing-focused course and a STEAM-focused course determined in consultation with their academic advisor. Since each course is selected based on the student, courses will vary. The Summer Bridge Scholars program coordinator will communicate these options with scholars.

ARE THERE ANY PROGRAM REGULATIONS?
  • Scholars are required to earn a minimum 2.0 GPA and actively participate in all programming throughout the summer semester (90% attendance is required). Falling below these standards may result in dismissal from the summer program.
  •

  • Scholars will not be allowed to work Monday-Friday during the 8-week term. Scholars are required to attend all programming events and are not excused from events because of work commitments. Scholars who choose to work during the program must agree to only work on weekends.

WHAT IS MY TOTAL PROGRAM COST FOR THE SUMMER?

The UMKC Summer Bridge Scholars Program is unique in that the costs associated with tuition, textbooks, assessments, and programming are covered by the Summer Bridge Scholarship.
