For three years in a row, UMKC has been named a "Best Value College" by the Princeton Review. The publication analyzes data from 650 colleges and universities that it has identified as having excellent academics. Schools are ranked using more than 30 data points in the areas of academics, cost of attendance and financial aid, as well as data from student surveys.

Data used by the Princeton Review include:

    • class sizes
    • performance of fellow students
    • accessibility of professors outside class
