Summer 2023 Ancillary Fees

Students in traditional degree programs will be charged the Student Life Fee and Information Technology Fee.  Students in online degree programs will be charged the Online Course Fee and the Information Technology Fee.  The assessment of the fees is based on your academic program (traditional degree or online degree) and not necessarily, how the class is being delivered.  The ancillary fees are used to pay the year round cost of the services and units which they support—even if virtual over the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

A Traditional Degree Program is defined as any degree program where through the course of the entire program, courses are intended to be primarily scheduled in a classroom setting with online and blended courses offered as an option.  A traditional program that is taught via face-to-face or blended format and then switches to online format (as in the case of during the COVID-19 pandemic) still maintains the definition of a Traditional Degree Program and will be charged as such.

An Online Degree Program is defined as a degree program where all or nearly all of course delivery is intended through online distance learning through the entire degree program.  Click here to go to the Missouri Online website to see the Online Degree Programs that UMKC offers.

Please note that those enrolled in classes in both programs (online degree and traditional degree) will be charged the fees applicable to each program.

For more information regarding course instruction mode definitions click here and scroll to Additional Scheduling Information and Resources and click on Codes and definitions and scroll to Instructional Mode.

These fees are in addition to the actual tuition cost per credit hour as shown above on this page. These fees are mandatory and cannot be opted out of or waived.
