This course examines the fight for civil rights in America in the 20th and 21st centuries in order to emphasize the importance of culture and diversity in American society. Using interdisciplinary methods, the course addresses various local and national movements among the African American, Latino/a, LGBT, and Native American communities, as well as the women's rights movement. Prerequisites: Anchor I, Discourse 100. Co-Requisites: Discourse 200 (or satisfy DISC 200 with credit from two of ENGL 110, ENGL 225, or COMM-ST 110).
