UMKC Counseling Services
Tracy Franklin, M.S.
Tracy Franklin is completing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Kansas, and this is her second year at UMKC. She received her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from KU in 2014. Her previous experience has been in college counseling centers, community mental health, and private practice. Her special areas of interest include working with identity development issues, working with oppressed populations (e.g., people of color, LGBTQIA), crisis-intervention, and issues related to family of origin. She is also passionate about assessment and its therapeutic uses and possibilities, as well as its ability to help students who are struggling academically to excel. Her theoretical framework is integrated, operating from a person-centered approach and is heavily influenced by attachment and cognitive-behavioral theories, always paying attention to the influences of a client’s culture and context.
