Dr. Tamilia Reed received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016. She is both personally and professionally committed to working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a range of presenting concerns. Dr. Reed believes that a strong, collaborative alliance with her client is the core of quality counseling. Dr. Reed works with each client to draw out wellsprings of hope, resilience, courage, and ongoing motivation for positive change using a variety of theories and treatment modalities, including interpersonal process, existential-humanistic, and cognitive-behavioral approaches. Dr. Reed assists clients in developing and maintaining effective coping strategies as well. Her special interest areas include mood concerns, grief/loss, relationship issues, career development concerns, religion and spirituality, disordered eating, trauma, and substance abuse. In her free time, Dr. Reed enjoys blogging, chanting, camping, and watching all things science fiction and fantasy related.
