Held in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, this exciting prism concert features more than 250 student and faculty performers. From jazz to classics, music and dance fills Helzberg Hall in one of Kansas City's premier arts events.
Now in its 24th year, Crescendo has raised more than $3 million for student scholarships, through the generosity of individuals, corporations and community sponsors.
When and where is the event?
The 2017 concert begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
How do I get there?
The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is located at 1601 Broadway, near the Power & Light District, Sprint Center and Crossroads Arts District. Driving directions are available on the Kauffman Center's website. The Kansas City Streetcar also stops at the Kauffman Center, connecting guests to the River Market and Union Station.
What is the Crescendo gala?
Sponsors and those who purchase gala tickets are welcome to attend a 5:30 p.m. cocktail reception before the concert. Gala attendees also receive priority seating for the 7 p.m. concert. Afterward, they enjoy a gourmet dinner in the dazzling Brandmeyer Great Hall. Gala tickets may be purchased online starting on Sept. 15, or by contacting Tamara Morris at 816-235-6173.
What is the dinner/concert combo?
Pair your concert experience with a three-course meal at Webster House. Choose a 5 p.m. seating before the performance, or an 8:30 p.m. seating afterward. Tickets go on sale Sept. 15.
Where can I buy concert tickets?
Concert tickets are available starting Sept. 15, through the UMKC Central Ticket Office.
What do I wear?
Concertgoers are encouraged to wear anything they normally would for a night on the town in Kansas City. For gala attendees, cocktail attire is suggested.
Where should I park, and how much does it cost?
Gala guests will receive a parking voucher for the garage via mail or e-mail. Bring your voucher to the event for complimentary self-parking or valet service beginning at 5 p.m. Parking for the concert ticket is $8.00 for self-parking and $16.00 for valet.
Where does my money go?
All proceeds from Crescendo go toward scholarships for students at the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance. (Your contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law for goods and services. After the event, you will receive a letter from UMKC confirming the tax-deductible portion of your contribution. The tax-deductible portion for a Gala ticket is $125.)
