Emeritus College
Mission and Purpose
The UMKC Emeritus College is a partnership with the University that enables its members to continue contributing their creative, intellectual, and scholarly talents to the mutual benefit of the University, the members of the Emeritus College, and the community. The Emeritus College promotes social relationships among emeriti/faculty and enhances the intellectual growth of its members.
What We Do
We keep Emeritus engaged in the UMKC community by fostering connections with current faculty and cultivating lifelong learning.
Intellectual involvement
- Offer enrichment programs to the emeritus faculty
- Promote multidisciplinary dialogue through programs
- Encourage emeritus faculty to maintain their research and scholarly activities
Social activities
- Host events to foster social engagement
- Collaborate with partner organizations to stage events
Community and university service
- Engage with the community in problem solving issues
- Share research and scholarly activities of the faculty in the community
- Participate in faculty development programs with the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE)
- Support junior faculty promotion and tenure through the Early Career Faculty Awards (ECFA)
