Visits are by appointment only.

The Faculty Ombudsperson Office is located at 4747 Troost on the ground floor. Parking is available (with UMKC permit) in a lot at the rear of the building, or on 48th Street, immediately adjacent to the building. The Faculty Ombudsperson is also able to meet with you at another place upon which you and the Ombudsperson agree, if you prefer.

What can I expect during my visit to the ombudsperson?

The first thing the Faculty Ombudsperson will do is explain the ombuds process, and ask if you have any questions.

Next, the Faculty Ombudsperson will listen to your story, ask clarifying questions, and try to understand your concerns.

The Faculty Ombudsperson will help you clarify your goals about the situation, and assist you in exploring a range of options and possible solutions.

Finally, the Ombudsperson will help you strategize appropriate next steps. She may also assist in other activities, as appropriate.

Most visits take an hour to an hour and a half. Many visitors opt to schedule further visits to explore other issues, or continue the conversation. It's up to you how often, and how frequently you visit the Faculty Ombudsperson.
