Fall 2019/Spring 2020 Tuition and Fee Rates

Tuition and Fee Rates

 

All students enrolled at the University of Missouri Kansas City are required to pay tuition and fees based on the number of credit hours enrolled with the exception of those programs who may charge a flat rate.

 

Undergraduate

Education Fee (Tuition) per semester for 2019-2020 Academic Year

    • Resident: $294.80 per credit hour
    • Kansas: $299.70 per credit hour
    • Non Resident: $824.30 per credit hour
    • Heartland: $449.55 per credit hour

     

    The tuition charge for Missouri residents is $299.70 per credit hour, but is reduced by a limited Missouri resident undergraduate tuition waiver of 1.0% to $294.80 per credit hour. This waiver is the result of university and state budget arrangements and may not continue in the future.

Graduate

Education Fee (Tuition) per semester for 2019-2020 Academic Year

    • Resident: $397.60 per credit hour
    • Graduate Metro: $397.60 per credit hour
    • Non Resident: $1,026.50 per credit hour
    • Midwest Exchange: $596.40 per credit hour

     

    Graduate students in the following Kansas counties of Atchison, Douglas, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami, Osage, Shawnee and Wyandotte are eligible for the Graduate Metro Rate.

School of Dentistry

Dentistry D.D.S. program

Education Fee (Tuition) per semester for 2019-2020 Academic Year

    • Resident: $17,076.60
    • Non Resident: $34,033.40

All students are assessed a flat rate of tuition and fees of 16 credit hours per term on all fees except Information Technology which is charged per credit hour for all students. Other Ancillary Fees are capped at 12 hours.

An additional SOD Instructional Fee is assessed for D.D.S. based on the student's cohort.

 

Dentistry Graduate Program

Education Fee (Tuition) per semester for 2019-2020 Academic Year

    • Resident: $1,123.30 per credit hour
    • Non Resident: $2,242.50 per credit hour

Fee Assessment stops at 14 credit hours on all fees except Information Technology which is charged per credit hour for all students. Other Ancillary Fees are capped at 12 hours.

Students in the Endodontics, Periodontics, and Orthodontics programs are assessed an additional SOD Instructional Fee.

    • Non Resident: $1,510.40 per credit hour

Medicine (Years 1-2)

Education Fee (Tuition) per semester for 2019-2020 Academic Year

    • Resident: $635.40 per credit hour
    • Non Resident: $1270.70 per credit hour
    • Regional: $935.10 per credit hour**

Fee assessment stops at 16 credit hours for all fees except the Information Technology Fee. Other Ancillary Fees are capped at 12 hours.

 

Medicine (Years 3-6)

Education Fee (Tuition) per semester for 2019-2020 Academic Year

    • Resident: $11,963.20
    • Non Resident: $23,926.20
    • Regional: $17,945.00**

All students are assessed a flat rate of 18 credit hours on all fees except the Information Technology Fee. Other Ancillary Fees are capped at 12 hours.

 

**Students who are residents of Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Arkansas or Illinois qualify for the regional rate.

 

Anesthesia Program

Education Fee (Tuition) per semester for 2019-2020 Academic Year

    • Non Resident: $14,214.90

All students are assessed a flat rate of 12 credit hours on all fees except the Information Technology Fee.

 

Physician Assistant Program

School of Pharmacy

Pharm.D. Program

Education Fee (Tuition) per semester for 2019-2020 Academic Year

    • Resident: $11,942.20
    • Non Resident: $26,257.70

All students are assessed a flat rate of 15 credit hours on all fees except the Information Technology Fee. Other Anciallry Fees are capped at 12 hours.

In addition to class costs, UMKC students pay a variety of fees that fund various facilities and services on campus. They are required of all students who have registered for on-campus courses and were established with the input and support of students and are outlined below.

Ancillary Fees

Student Program/Use Fees

Each of the Student Program/Use Fees are capped at 12 credit hours and includes:

Student Activity Fee $5.79 per credit hour - Funds student clubs and organizations as well as a variety of student activites and services. The Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Committee makes recommendations regarding the allocation of these funds.

Athletic Fee $5.15 per credit hour - provides support for UMKC’s men and women’s intercollegiate athletic programs.

Physical Facilities Fee $0.75 per credit hour - funds student related facilities repair and renovation.

University Center Fee $7.26 per credit hour - supports the remodeling and repair of the University Center, as well as day‐to‐day operating cost. With the construction of the new Student Union, funds from this fee are also used to maintain and operate that facility, as well.

Additional Ancillary Fees

Swinney Recreation Fee $33.82 flat rate - charged at a flat rate per semester, is pledged to retire the $5,500,000 revenue bond issued to help with construction costs of Swinney Recreation Center.

A.S.U.M Fee $0.15 per credit hour and capped at 10 hours - funds UMKC’s participation in the Associated Students of the University of Missouri. This group advocates for student concerns at the state and national levels.

Information Technology Fee $14.67 per credit hour - provides enhanced student computer access and capabilities on campus.

Student Health Fee $4.45 per credit hour and capped at 12 hours - funds the Health and Wellness Center, which provides health care services to UMKC students.

Student Union Fee $15.70 per credit hour and capped at 12 credit hours - provides payment of debt service on the new Student Union. It also supports the maintenance and daily operation of the
building.

Transportation Fee $15.58 flat rate - provides an all access transit pass to UMKC Students for Kansas City Area Transportation Authority’s Metro and Max bus services. The fee also funds a shuttle service for the UMKC Volker Campus.

Library Fee $3.00 per credit hour and capped at 12 credit hours - provides improvement, services and resources to UMKC students at all UMKC library locations.
