COVID-19 Parking and Transportation Updates as of 3-27-2020
The Parking and Transportation Department is not currently conducting
business at our office location, but can be reached between 8am and 5pm,
Monday through Friday via email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
or voicemail (816-235-5256).
Parking on the UMKC Volker Campus:
Considering the recent transition to all-online classes, UMKC will
require payment or a permit to park in Metered, Student Permit, or most Faculty/Staff Permit parking areas on the Volker campus.
Volker campus currently remains open with some faculty, staff, and students who require parking, so we will continue to enforce some parking rules and regulations. Violations will be issued for the following:
- Parking without a Faculty/Staff permit in a 24/7 Reserved Faculty/Staff area
- Utilizing more than one parking space for a single motor vehicle
- Parking in loading zones
- Parking in driveways or on walks
- Parking on any part of the campus or lands of the University of
Missouri-Kansas City that is not designated for parking purposes,
either temporarily or as a permanent parking lot
- Parking in a space reserved for a special purpose
- Parking in a designated handicap-accessible space without a required state-issued disability plate or hangtag
- Parking along a designated fire lane
Parking on the UMKC Health Sciences Campus:
Due to the nature of work being performed on the Health Sciences Campus, we will continue to enforce all normal parking requirements, to ensure proper availability of parking to those required to be on this campus for work or learning.
Student Permit Refunds:
Student parking charges will be discounted at 45% if the permit was purchased on or before February 21. The discount will be 100% for any permit purchased after February 21. The discount will be applied to your student account automatically.
Permits do not need to be returned. The only exception is for a student who purchased a multi-semester permit though the summer semester, and now wants a credit for summer as well. In this case, the permit will need to be returned before the start of the summer semester. Only the spring credit will be processed until the multi-semester permit is physically returned.

To be issued a refund for a Summer 2020 permit, the permit must be returned to the Parking and Transportation Office via US mail before the beginning of the summer session.
We appreciate your patience and wish you the best during this difficult time.
