Construction Update
The front entrance with parking at the UMKC Administrative Center is closed for construction. Please use the entrances on the east, south and north ends of building. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will remain open for calls and email. UMKC Central will be relocating to its new office in Atterbury Student Success Center from July 27 to August 14. Walk-in services may be limited or not available during that time.

Award Overview
- Academic year amount
- $3,500 plus nonresident tuition differential*
- Eligibility
- No residency requirement
- 3.25 cumulative transfer GPA
- OR
- 3.5 high school core GPA (if fewer than 24 credit hours)
- Working toward your first bachelor’s degree
- Requirements
- Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
- Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year.
- Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law.
- Automatic scholarships cannot be combined with other automatic scholarships. You receive only the highest automatic award for which you qualify.
- Renewal requirement
- 2.75 cumulative UMKC GPA for up to three years of undergraduate study
- Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
- Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year.
* Stackable with Roo Nation (nonresident waiver) for nonresident students.
Requirements for Returning Students
If you were a student that attended UMKC in recent years, and you were receiving an automatic scholarship, you may be eligible to reinstate your previous award.
- Qualifications
- Students originally admitted to UMKC in the Fall 2019 semester or after
- You were originally admitted as a first-time college student or a transfer student.
- At some point after starting your academic career you withdrew from UMKC and did not return.
- You are not a student in a professional program from the school of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry or Law.
- You have not already earned a bachelor's degree.
- 2.75 cumulative GPA from your last semester at UMKC

- Students cumulative GPA when they left will be used to determine which automatic award they may be offered
- Students will receive a returning student scholarship that is equivalent the original automatic award they had as a first-time college student or as a transfer student as long as their GPA meets the renewal criteria for that award.
