New Employee Orientation

New Employee Orientation is designed to welcome and support all new employees as they begin their careers at the university. The orientation session provides essential information about UMKC’s mission, campus resources, employee benefits, and ways to get involved.

Please review your offer letter to confirm your scheduled orientation date. Upcoming orientation sessions are listed on the Human Resources Calendar. Virtual orientation sessions are available for new employees who will not physically work on the UMKC campus.

Key Details

  • Time: 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM (Central Time)
  • Location: Plaza Room, Conference Center (second floor), Administrative Center Building, 5115 Oak Street, Kansas City, MO 64112
  • Arrival: Please arrive at least five minutes early to ensure a prompt start.
  • Refreshments: Complimentary beverages (coffee, water) and snacks are provided
  • Parking: Metered parking is available in on the fifth level of the Cherry Street Parking Structure, just north of the Administrative Center. On your first day, you may park in the metered area without paying. If you receive a ticket, contact Human Resources and let us know it was your first day so the ticket can be waived.

Campus Tour

New to the campus? Did you just join the UMKC community who only knows how to get to your desk but are curious about what else our campus has to offer? Join us for a 60-minute tour of the Volker campus. This will showcase commonly used buildings and will review some of the offerings for employees. We will meet on the 1st floor of the Student Union, just outside the bookstore 10-minutes prior to the tour starting.
