ITS Workshop

Calibrated Peer Assessment

Where: Fine Arts Room 307
When: Mar 27,2013  12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Presenter(s): David Ta-Pryor

Description:

Learning is mostly a collaborative process.  When an academic paper is submitted for publication, it is often peer reviewed by experts in the field.  This process is often frustrating, but useful because many mistakes are caught and the article is better written in the end. How can you turn this process into something that will benefit your students? Through a peer-review process using Turnitin Assignments on Blackboard.

This workshop is designed to teach you how to use this tool in order to facilitate learning through the peer-review process.  Through this application, you may assign longer papers to your students, have them peer reviewed by other classmates, and have the peer reviewers answer question related to the paper assignment. Scores are given for both the student and the peer reviewers. The end result is a better-written paper, a more satisfied student, and a happy instructor.
