Dec. 25 through Jan. 1 has officially been designated as winter break for the University of Missouri System. The campus will be closed with exception of a few offices. Here are a few more details about specific services.

Free COVID-19 Testing and Health Services

Student Health and Wellness, 5110 Oak St. Brookside 51 Building, 237, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except Dec. 25, and open again on Jan. 4.

Starting Jan. 4, rapid COVID-19 testing is available free to all students, whether or not they are experiencing symptoms. The test involves anterior nose swabbing, much less discomforting than interior nose swabbing. Results take about 15 minutes. Appointments can be made online or by calling 816-235-6133.

Kangaroo Food Pantry

During Winter Break, the hours at the main Kangaroo Pantry at 4825 Troost will be reduced to the following dates and times:
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020: 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, January 5th, 2021: 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday, January 12th, 2021: 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, January 13th, 2021: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Thursday, January 14th, 2021: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The satellite pantries at the Health Sciences District in the School of Medicine (Room 1-402) and in the UMKC Student Union will be available whenever those buildings are open over the university break based on their schedules.

Regular hours will resume on January 19. If other accommodations are needed, e-mail or call 816-235-1457 and we can try to make arrangements for all other times that are not over reduced operations period.

UMKC School of Dentistry Clinic reopens at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

Any checks must be in an envelope postmarked prior to Dec. 31, 2020, in order to be credited in the 2020 tax year.

For any stock gifts or wire transfers, please contact Katherine Walter at Stock gifts must be received into the UMKC Foundation’s brokerage account by Dec. 31, 2020, to be counted in the 2020 tax year. Mutual funds should be initiated no later than Dec. 21 to be transferred on time.
