The UMKC Dental Alumni Association hosted the annual Dental Alumni Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday, August 14, with proceeds from the event going toward student scholarships at the School of Dentistry.

Golfers arrived bright and early at the WinterStone Golf Course in Independence, MO to purchase putts for the putting contest, buy their arms’ length in tickets for the Wingspan Raffle, and head to the driving range to warm up for the day.

The tournament kicked off at 8:00am. Along the way, various contests challenged the golfers to get a hole in one, the longest drive, the longest putt, and more throughout the course.

Golfers turned in their scorecards by 12:00pm and gathered for lunch, catching up with each other and finding out the winners of the prizes and awards.

The day was a “Win, Win, Win,” in the words of School of Dentistry Dean Paul Luepke. “It was an amazing turnout of 88 golfers, 36 more than last year,” he shared. “And we raised enough money to provide 15 scholarships to our dental students.”

“It’s always great to see our alumni give back to support the next generation of UMKC-trained dental professionals,” added Doug Anderson, Senior Director of Development for Alumni and Advancement and Executive Director of the Dr. Roy J. Rinehart Memorial Foundation.

Special thanks to the hole sponsors and donors for their generosity, as well as the golfers who dedicated their day to supporting the cause.
