We've changed our name from the International Student Affairs Office to International Student and Scholar Services. We're still providing the same level of services and support to our community of international students and scholars.

International Scholarships

UMKC International Scholarship Opportunities

We offer scholarship opportunities for international F-1 students at the time of admission. After you begin your studies at UMKC, you can ask your academic unit if they offer any additional scholarship opportunities.

You may also fund your education at UMKC with a variety of private scholarships.

Merit-Based International F-1 Scholarships

At UMKC, bachelor's and master's F-1 students are eligible to receive scholarships based on their academic performance. Each scholarship waives a certain portion of the difference between non-resident tuition and resident tuition. The exact dollar amount of your scholarship will depend on the tuition costs for that academic year and the number of credit hours you enroll in each semester. An estimated dollar amount for your first academic year will be listed in your official UMKC Letter of Admission and your I-20.

  • Chancellor's International Award: 100% of Non-Resident Tuition differential
  • Provost's International Award: 80% of Non-Resident Tuition differential
  • Dean's International Award: 60% of Non-Resident Tuition differential
  • Global Scholar Award: 50% of Non-Resident Tuition differential

The scholarship you receive will be determined based on your academic performance at the time of admission. Scholarships are renewable each semester if students maintain good academic standing and proper enrollment.

These scholarships are not available for bachelor's and master's degrees in our professional schools, such as the MS Bioinformatics (School of Medicine) and BS Nursing (School of Nursing).

If a departmental scholarship waives non-resident tuition, students will receive the better of the two awards.
