Accounts and Email
Username/ Single Sign on (SSO)

Each UMKC student receives a Single Sign On (SSO) account name, which provides access to Blackboard, Pathway, computer labs, wireless, and many other resources. As a student you have access to a myriad of online services using your SSO and password.SSO passwords and Microsoft Office365 student email passwords are not the same. This is where you can find more information regarding resetting passwords or what to do if you forget your password.
Student Email
All official university communications are sent to your Microsoft Office365 student email account. Students are strongly encouraged to check their UMKC email regularly for important announcements and information. You can access your email account from any web browser and email programs, such as Microsoft Outlook.

Campus Connectivity
Residence Halls Wi-Fi
UMKC provides students with wired (Ethernet) network access in the residence halls. Students will need to bring their own Ethernet cable. Students in the residence halls will use the SafeConnect system to ensure computers are protected and up-to-date. Wireless access is also available in the public areas in the residence halls. Students can enjoy the convenient benefits of wireless internet access in almost every building and most community spaces on campus. Wi-Fi allows students the freedom to study and learn without restricting them to physical locations.
Mobile Device Setup VPN
For students who bring their mobile devices to campus, set up instructions are provided to connect to the internet. We understand the importance of mobile devices to access email, websites, and other online applications. Students can access UMKC's network resources from off-campus through a Virtual Private Network (VPN). A VPN is a method used to add security and privacy to protect sensitive data.

Computer Labs and Printing
Computer Labs Printing
Numerous computer labs are located across the UMKC campus. Information Services (IS) provides computer resources to all UMKC students with a valid SSO and password. Printers are available throughout campus. Color printers are available in select locations. Students are allocated a print quota at the beginning of each semester.
RooBucks Web Printing
Roo Bucks is a secure and convenient stored-value account that can be used for printing beyond the allocated print quota. The Web Print service enables printing to select UMKC IS Labs printers from any personal device.
Remote Labs Network File Storage
Students can access University software applications from your personal computer on campus or at home. Remote Labs are available at no charge, 24 hours a day. Available software includes Adobe Creative Suite, Mathematica, SAS, and more. UMKC provides network file storage space for each student, which can be accessed on student computer labs and off campus.

Learning Tools and Online Resources
Pathway Canvas
UMKC's Pathway system is a tool used for registration, degree planning, finances, calendars, grades and transcripts, and campus services. Canvas is a new learning management system, replacing Blackboard, that will be used with all classes at UMKC by Fall 2019.
Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus University Bookstore
Enrolled students can download and install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus for free on up to five devices, including Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. The UMKC Bookstore is your place for textbooks, apparel, gifts, and gear.
Mobile Apps Library
UMKC Apps are free and help students stay up-to-date with what’s happening on campus and enhance their experience at UMKC. The UMKC University Library system provides access to online catalogs, an extensive list of electronic databases, e-journals, e-newspapers, and local libraries for use by UMKC students on or off campus.

IT Policies and Safe Computing
IT Policies Protecting Your Computer
