Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are public cloud platforms that provide solutions and services such as; virtual machines, database instances, storage, and more. AWS is offered under the Internet2 NET+ service agreement through DLT Solutions, Inc. GCP is offered through an agreement with Burwood Group.

Both agreements allow UMKC faculty and staff to receive a discount on services (3-5%), provide access to a Data Egress Waiver, and provide compliance for sensitive and confidential data that is regulated by laws such as HIPAA.

The agreement allows UMKC faculty and staff to receive a 5% discount on services, provides access to a Data Egress Waiver, and provides compliance for sensitive and confidential data that is regulated by laws such as HIPAA.

Price

Prices for GCP services are set by Google and are based on usage. Estimates can be built using the Google Cloud Pricing Calculator. Note, the 5% discount is not included in the calculator results.

Monthly billing will be charged directly to a MOCode.

Project Billing Registration

If you have a Google Cloud project created in the UM System Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment that you wish to link to university funding, taking advantage of the 5% discount and fee waivers, please use this Cherwell form.

  • GCP Compute Engine provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. VMs can be quickly provisioned in a variety of CPU/memory configurations and operating systems.
  • Google Cloud Storage provides fully redundant data storage infrastructure for storing and retrieving any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the Web.

  • AWS Glacier is an extremely low-cost storage service that provides secure and durable storage for data archiving and backup.
