E-mail Encryption Setup For S/MIME

S/MIME encryption is free to UMKC users, but requires configuration ahead of time. This may require a cost on the recipients part if they are not already setup for S/MIME encryption.

S/MIME requires 3 parts to complete:

  • A Digital Encryption Certificate for yourself as the sender
  • A copy of the Digital public key from your intended recipient
  • An e-mail program capable of handling S/MIME E-mail
  • Obtain a Certificate

    Note that for Outlook Web Access, you must use Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2010 to import your recipients public key.
